The National Pacaya Samiria Reserve is abundant and surpasses all the senses, from the lakes to the incredible variety of wildlife. Many myths and legends of the Amazon steam from this mysterious area that still remains unspoiled.
DAY 1
- 7 am departure from the Amazon Explorer office by motocarro.
- Car from Iquitos to Nauta (1:30 hrs). Breakfast served.
- Private motorboat from Nauta to Santo Domingo (3 hrs).
- Entrance permit for the National Reserve.
- Boat to camping area (2 hrs).
- Set up camp and construction of shelters.
- Observation of wildlife.
- Nocturnal exploration.
- Overnight in the jungle.
DAY 2-4
- Motorboat to next camping area (1 hr).
- Set up camp and construction of shelters.
During these days we will do the following activities:
- Bird watching.
- Piranha fishing (Serrasalmus nattereri).
- Short and medium hikes through primary jungle in search of wildlife.
- Nocturnal explorations in search of tarantulas and other insects.
- Identification of medicinal plants.
- Drinking water from forest vines "Soga de agua".
- Searching for the giant tree, largest of the jungle "Lupuna" .
- Excursion in search of primates.
- Identification of animal tracks and footprints.
- Construction of personal flotation devices, enjoy the fun of drifting downstream.
- Night exploration in search of alligators and other species.
- Overnight in the jungle.
DAY 5
- Excursion to a lake.
- Observation of wildlife.
- Looking for pink dolphins (Inia geoffrensis).
- Visit a local village.
- Buying handicrafts (optional) .
- Return by motorboat to Nauta (3 hrs).
- Car from Nauta to Iquitos (1:30 hrs).
- Arrival at Amazon Explorer office (7 pm).
Services include: Transfer from Iquitos airport, all land and river transportation, private boat, all meals provided for duration of trip, regional refreshments and purified water, permission to the National Pacaya Samiria Reserve, native guides.
Materials: Mosquito nets, sheets, mattresses, hammocks and rubber boots.
