For those who wish to have an adventurous experience, live with and learn about the customs and culture of an indigenous Amazonian tribe.
DAY 1-3
- Departure from the Amazon Explorer office.
- Public boat "Lancha" downriver on the Amazon (180 km).
- Visit to the village of Pevas.
- Motorboat to an indigenous Boras Community.
- Gathering in the communal house "Maloca".
- Typical dances of this tribe.
- Preparation of coca leaves (formerly used by this tribe).
- Ancient stories of escaping from slavery in the times of rubber plantations.
- Environmental walks.
- Excursions in a canoe.
- Accommodation: Overnight in a typical house in the native community.
DAY 4-5 - Navigating with indigenous Boras guides on the Yaguayacu River in a motorboat.
- Motorboat with indigenous Boras on the Yaguayacu River.
- Visit to five different tribal communities.
- Arrival to the last tribal community of this river (not touristic).
- Co-existence with them and learn about their customs and way of life.
- Overnight in a typical house in the tribal community.
DAY 6-8
- Enter into the jungle with indigenous Boras.
During these days we will do the following activities:
- Set up camp and shelters.
- Learn to construct traps for catching animals in the native way.
- Identification of medicinal plants.
- Drinking water from forest vines "Soga de agua" .
- Short and medium hikes through primary rainforest.
- Fishing for piranha (Serrasalmus nattereri).
- Night exploration looking for alligators, snakes, tarantulas and other species.
- Construction of personal flotation devices and drifting downstream.
- Overnight in the jungle.
DAY 9
- Return by motorboat to Community of the Bora's.
- Exploration by canoe at night.
- Observation of wildlife.
- Overnight in a typical house in the tribal community.
DAY 10
- Return by motorboat to Iquitos.
- Transfer to the Amazon Explorer office.
Services include: Transfer from Iquitos airport, all land and river transportation, private boat, all meals provided for duration of trip, purified water, indigenous Boras guides.
Materials: Mosquito nets, sheets, mattresses, hammocks and rubber boots.
Amazon Explorer provides financial support for the tribal communities. |
